the best room in the house

Everyone loves to be in the kitchen....its where the heart of every home is. My personal favorite is an all white kitchen....its classic, crisp and can be updated and changed with colorful appliances or seasonal decor. Notice that every kitchen below keeps their palette bright and white but incorporates woods and natural fibers to warm up the spaces. Below are some of my favorites.

Love the extended cabinets to the crown molding. They kept a simple white palette with the counters and cabinetry. The seagrass chairs bring a change of texture and warmth to the space.

Beautiful classic white kitchen with a rustic island to offset the stark backsplash and cabinets. GREAT range hood!

Beautiful chandelier!

Beautiful layout and floor tile work. Ohh and that double fridge!! What a luxury!

The lighting fixture over the island and soft grass cloth shades make this space. The classic triangle layout for sink, fridge and oven optimize functionality.

This custom LaCornue Range is the most breathtaking stove I have ever seen. The custom built in's above the stove are clever and functional.

tropical lanterns

These woven lanterns remind me so much of some chandeliers we saw in a restaurant in Maui.  I love this look, it makes an otherwise sleek and modern kitchen look a little more relaxed and fun!

kitchen love

There's pretty much nothing I don't like about this kitchen!  The cabinetry is gorgeous, that blue is perfect.  I love the way the stove sits back in the little nook - keeps the messy cooking somewhat hidden - and the stove itself is so cute!  There is plenty of open shelving and storage to display wine and glass canisters.  And who doesn't love a farm sink?!  Beautiful...

traditional simplified

Okay, so I've been a little preoccupied lately and haven't been posting as much as I should.  Life has been a tad hectic: wedding is creeping up on me, got a new Mac that I'm still setting up - but loving, been doing a little bit of house hunting, celebrating multiple holidays and working on a million other projects.  So, please forgive my temporary absence!

Tonight, though, I finally had time to sit back and catch up on my favorite blogs and online mags, which is basically like meditation to me.  I'm so glad I made it over to Lonny because I found some work by a really talented duo - Lauren Gold & Sasha Adler - in the Trad Home issue that I find so beautiful.  You all know that I love simplicity and these two have done a great job of keeping traditional looking very chic and clean.  A few of my favorite parts: the hallway art, the woven daybed, the forest green benches and the carved desk.  What do you like?

banquette beauties

When we eventually move out of the city and into a house, one of my requirements is that I get to have a banquet in my kitchen.  They're the perfect place to snuggle into for breakfast with a newspaper (or laptop nowadays).  Right now we just have one big open area in our apartment so no place for a banquet... but some day!  I like them better when the bench sits into a little nook like the first two here, but the others work just as well.  I also see a theme going on here with stripes and wainscoting, so pretty.

lantern lighting

I have a thing for lanterns lately.  Whether big or small, white or colorful, metal or paper they can be a lovely option if chandeliers aren't your thing.

writing on the wall

I love the idea of keeping a chalkboard in the home.  Whether it's used for to-do lists, notes, inspirational quotes or as a creative outlet for children, they can be a great way to add some fun as well as function to your space.

Go to Country Living or Design Sponge to find out how to make your own chalkboard with paint!
